Welcome to UnSpun - The Orca's current events podcast and YouTube show. Every week, Jody Vance and George Affleck unspin the latest news in local, provincial, federal politics, and much more.

Jody and George celebrate not only a certain person’s birthday but the one-year countdown until the next municipal elections, which of course includes lots of speculation; then it’s onto strict new protocols in BC’s north because vaccination rates continue to lag, and finally, did we mention it was someone’s birthday?

SWIM ON:

  • Last week on UnSpun, Jody and George parked their analysis of Vancouver’s mooted and now moot residential parking plan.
  • This week’s BCPOLI Hotstove also looked forward to next year’s municipal elections – touching on Vancouver, but focusing on Surrey and Victoria. Because they had an inkling George and Jody were going to mow that particular lawn.
  • In Episode 13 of Ellected, host Sarah Elder-Chamanara and Asia Walker, the Heritage Resources and Research Coordinator for Heritage Calgary, do a deep dive into the history of women on council in Calgary – starting from the very first, Annie Gale in 1917, to the present day.
