Welcome to UnSpun - The Orca's current events podcast and YouTube show. This week, Jody Vance and Drex unspin the latest news in local, provincial, federal politics, and much more.

As Jody Vance suffers separation anxiety over the departure of her much beloved Unseen Podcast Co-host this week on UnSpun, we do a deep dive into THE MEDIA. What’s changed? What’s better and what’s broken. Unpacking the truths surrounding the blame-game that hits this easy target all too often as an excuse for all the world’s ills.

Veteran broadcaster Drex gives his perspective on how media has evolved in recent years. We also get his stories on dealing with politicians …. and how he sees municipal, provincial and federal politics playing out in a pandemic. PLUS: just a little Trump talk.

Jody Vance is a born and raised Vancouverite who’s spent 30 years in both local and national media. The first woman in the history of Canadian TV to host her own sports show in primetime, since 2011 she’s been working in both TV and radio covering news and current affairs.

SWIM ON:

  • Last week, Jody Vance began UnSpun’s next era with Vancouver City Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung.
  • The most recent #BCPOLI Hotstove (there’s another one tomorrow!) focused on the campaign’s first big policy idea.
  • Jody Vance’s column this week looked ahead to winter, and foresaw trouble: we ask people with no outdoor space to stay safe and sane, and it can’t hold for long. We need to give people better options than walks around the block.
