As B.C. digests the revelations from Darryl Plecas' report on spending by legislature officials, it's only fair to wonder: how did we get here?

He promised a bombshell, and Speaker Darryl Plecas certainly delivered: a 76-page report outlining some high flying expenses and other alleged shenanigans among senior staff at the Legislature.

Within 48 hours, the accused – Clerk Craig James and Sergeant-at-Arms Gary Lenz – are scheduled to respond to a Legislative committee probing their behaviour. In the meantime, B.C. taxpayers are trying to figure out how this spending could happen.

Kris Sims is the BC Director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, and has dug deep into the report and background material. She joined Rick Cluff in studio.
